1940s Weekend

3rd & 4th August 2024

Various Photographers have donated their photos here for you to get the feeling of how the event may look.
Grateful thanks go here to: Trish Thompson and MNR Member, Ian McDonald

We are pleased to be hosting our 1940s Weekend Event again for 2024, this time stretching across our whole line between Dereham Station and Wymondham Abbey Halt.

Dereham Station will feature a host of displays (including firepower demonstrations), vehicles, characters and stalls, providing a unique opportunity to explore our history and experience it in person. Our resident Steam locomotive, BR Standard 4MT 80078 will be joined by a guest locomotive, the returning GWR Large Prairie 4144 (Courtesy of Didcot Railway Centre), with both locomotives transporting you back in time along our line. Visit Yaxham station where the British Forces are holding the line, then on to Hardingham which is under occupation, before arriving at Wymondham Abbey Halt where in the neighbouring field there will be displays, entertainment, food and a beer tent.

More information can be found  on the event site at www.mnr40sweekend.co.uk

Day Rover tickets below (and pre-booked tickets) entitle you to all day access to all stations across the line, as well as unlimited train rides that day. Pre-bookable tickets were available until 3pm on Friday 2nd August.

On the day tickets can be purchased at Dereham, Wymondham Abbey and the Train Guard/Ticket Inspector
